CTMH Open House Rescheduled

Now that we've all pretty much thawed out, the Close to My Heart Open House has been rescheduled for this Friday, February 6th. Carol will be in the store with a free make-n-take and offering free shipping on any orders placed that night. Also, you have a choice of which class you would like to take. It's completely up to you if you want to make up last weeks "Dream" pages or make Valentine Cards. (You can even come early or stay late and do both!) I am looking forward to seeing everyone again. I know it was only a week, but it has seemed like forever.

Hope to see you this weekend. By the way, the Valentine card class will be repeated on Saturday if anyone is interested.

Class cancelled

I'm sorry to do this, but I'm going to have to cancel class for tonight. Carol is checking to see if she can extend the offer for the beautiful stamps, and I will be in the store tomorrow from 10a.m. until 5p.m. if anyone wants to come in and place their order, and/or take this weeks class. I know the weather looks good and all, but I am still worried about people driving home in the dark, and Green Forest has asked that everyone stay at home once it is dark. (And I wouldn't want to be the cause of any temptation..lol). Also, Carol is still without power, as many of you are, and therefore can't even read this..gee, I'm bright! I do hope that you are all safe. I hope to see you tomorrow. Be careful!

Warm at Last!

Phew! What a crazy experience. This desert girl has never had to deal with the likes of freezing like this! Not even while I lived in Utah. (There, it was just snow and crazy people who like to tailgate while driving in it!) All in all, we handled it pretty well. Thank goodness for propane grills, flashlights, and candles. (I'd like to be thankful for the fireplace, but it wasn't much help..."Note to self, buy a rick of dry wood and don't try to burn the green wood your dad cut off of the tree in the back yard." Did you know that green wood doesn't give off much heat when you burn it? Nope...not much at all. I must say that it was pretty helpful in reheating some yummy ham and potatoes from Monday night. Gotta love those cast iron pans.

Of course, like many of you, we've got branches down all over the property, and my favorite Maple tree beside the house is probably history, but we are all safe and warm and our power is back on. There is indeed, much to be grateful for. I am worrying a bit about my hubby driving that big truck over the icy dirt roads. (I know that ours is no fun to drive up....I mean slide down! LOL) He is a good driver though and I know he will be very careful.

I took several pictures yesterday and today. I will try and post tomorrow night. The ice on the trees was gorgeous. Especially when the sun came out and made them sparkle like they had been formed from crystal. It's just too bad that something that beautiful can cause so many problems. Billy drove me over to the store today to check on things. All is well, but the roads around the square are a little slippery and the trees have many broken branches. The City was busy cleaning them up, so hopefully it will be better tomorrow. I AM planning on being at the store tomorrow for anyone who would like to come and take the "Dream" class. The pages are quite pretty and the technique is cool too. I think that Carol is planning to come for the open house tomorrow night, so if you're still interested in ordering some CTMH stamps and doing a free make-n-take, come on in between 5:30p.m. and 8:30p.m. (Call first, just to make sure everything is still on!) Next week's classes are Valentine Cards. Tuesday, 10a.m. , Friday, 10a.m. or 6p.m. and again on Saturday at 10a.m. Also, if you would like to make up this weeks "Dream" class, give me a call and we can work out a day, or you could come to class early or stay late. You know I always love to have people in the store working, and I'll even make sure to clean up a table for you!

I'll be posting the rest of February's classes here tomorrow and I've got some plans for March that I'd like to share with you all. (Or is that "both" of you?...I'm never sure if anyone is really reading this!!) Be sure and stop by the store to pick up a schedule. If you can't, call me and I'll gladly drop one in the mail for you!

SALE!!! Yep, that's right. Come in and take advantage of 30-40% off of American Crafts and Imaginisce Christmas collections. It's time to make room for some new goodies! Also, keep an eye out for some new Valentine papers. I'm hoping my other favorite guy (the one in the brown uniform) will be dropping by the store with the goodies I ordered from Bo-bunny and Kaiser Kraft.

Well, it's late and I've got to get some sleep. I'm feeling rather lazy after having 5 days off and I'm pretty sure it will be difficult to get up and going in the morning. Christmas Open House

I know...you all want to know how I manage to do everything and keep up with this blog....LOL!! Anyway....

The annual Christmas Open House held by the Downtown Merchants will be Sunday, November 30th.....We will not be participating this year because we have chosen to do the things that we are supposed to do on the Sabbath. (And I don't mean that in a preachy way.) I wish the downtown Merchants all the luck in the world, and I hope that they will have a great turnout. We will still be having an Open House, but it will be on Saturday, November 29th, from 10a.m. until 3p.m. During the Open House, we will be having a FREE CROP, Make-n-takes, refreshments, and a really great sale. This will also be a great time to special order any gift items that you need so that I can get them in before Christmas.

We've got some really fun classes on the schedule for the holidays. This week we will be doing Christmas cards and using some cool techniques including using Brass Stencils, JAC Paper, glitter, and flocking. 6 cards for $12.00 Not bad at all!

As for the week before Thanksgiving, I will be open Tuesday, and closed the rest of the week until Saturday (for the Open House).

*December 2nd and 5th we will be making a great winter Snowman decoration.

*9th and 12th will be our Tags and Bags class.

*16th and 19th is our Annual Christmas Mini-Album this year it will be featuring the Snowy Jo collection from Imaginisce. We will also be having a pot luck during this class because it takes about 4 hours, so we might as well party a little! Please bring your recipe to share with us.

Tuesday, December 23rd, I'll be open from 10a.m. to around 2p.m. for those last minute shoppers, then I will be closed until the following Tuesday.

*December 30th and Jan. 2nd we will be making a Christmas Layout

I do hope that you will come in and join us for the holidays. I know how tight things are for all of us this year, so consider saving some of your money and spending some of your time making a special gift of memories. I guarantee there won't be a dry eye around the Christmas tree.

One final note....my daughter Rachel is selling SEE's Candy bars to help with the cost of costumes for dance this year. They are $1.50 each and come in Dark Chocolate, Dark with almonds, Milk chocolate, Milk with almonds, and Milk with Toffee bits. They make really great stocking stuffers, and we've even go cute ideas for making them a great gift for the folks at work. Rachel is also selling tickets for a Baked Potato Dinner to be held on Friday, December 12th (I think). This money is to help her earn her way to a dance competition this winter. Dinner includes Baked Potato, yummy toppings of choice, dessert, and a drink. There will also be a silent auction.

In the spirit of the season, I just want you all to know how much I appreciate you, and how much fun I've had getting to know all of you. What a blessing it has been for me to have a place to meet such wonderful, talented, sweet women such as yourselves. In case I don't post before Thanksgiving....Happy Thanksgiving! (And don't forget to take pictures of all of those great Thanksgiving meals so that you can scrap them!)

It's no mystery...I haven't quite been myself lately. A lot of things have been going on that I will not begin to boar you with, but suffice it to say, I've been having a little trouble finding the joy in my life. In an interesting coincidence, a book showed up on my doorstep for me to preview for a book club that has gone belly up. (In a side note...I must now pay for the book...it doesn't seem right to keep it now. I wasn't even going to open it, but curiosity...well, you know.) Anyway, the book is called "Toss the Guilt and Catch the Joy...A Woman's Guide to a Better Life" by Merrilee Boyack and being in the state of mind that I am, I just had to start reading it. So far, so good, but I really wanted to share this thought that Merrilee shared in her book.

Happiness is:

Courageously doing what you want to do, even if you are scared.
Experiencing your life as an exciting journey.
Stimulating your maind and caring for your body.
Realizing that you already have everything you need to make yourself happy.
Knowing that you are the only one who can decide what is right or wrong for you.
Accepting that you are okay even when you blunder and learn from your mistakes.
Knowing that what people say or do is a reflection of them not you.
Listening to your inner wisdom.

Isn't that the truth? Sometimes we try so hard to attain our impossible idea of perfection that we forget to look at how blessed we are and how wonderful it is that we have the ability to choose joy. The late President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gordon B. Hinckley said, "In all living have much of fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured." To that I say..AMEN!

SCRAP PINK

Okay, here it is, after midnight again. I've got a billion things I want to share, but I'm just too tired to make them make sense...so I'll share the most important thing...

Our annual Scrap Pink crop will be October 4th from 10a.m. until whenever we've had enough. The cost will be $15.00 of which a $10.00 non-refundable deposit will be required. (This is the $10.00 that goes to the Susan G. Komen foundation.) Also, Tuesday, September 30th and Friday, October 3rd will be a special class titled "Celebrate Life". This class will cost $15.00 and $5.00 of that goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. I do hope that you will come and participate, but if you are unable to make it, you can always drop a donation off between now and October 4th.

Did I mention that the first 10 people to sign up will be receiving some pretty cool goody bags thanks to Josh at American Crafts? (Maybe more...I need to count better in the morning.) At any rate, be sure to sign up ASAP! We will also have the pleasure of cropping with Carol Atkins. She's a Close to My Heart rep and a breast cancer survivor. Not only will she be sharing a fun project with us, but she will be sharing her story.

The new schedules are out. I will do my best to get them here, but I'd love for you to drop by the store and pick them up. We just got some cool American Crafts Paper and embellishments from the Mode Bella line. Also, if you haven't been in for awhile, we've got some really cute Halloween paper, stamps, and embellishments in from Imaginisce.

Some of you may already know this, but I've accepted a calling at my church as the Young Women's President. This means that I am over the Young Women, ages 12 - 18 at my church. It's a pretty big job...teaching them on Sunday and having activities for them every Wednesday evening. It also includes some trips to Springfield and the surrounding areas on some Saturdays. Because I don't think it's fair to expect my mother to work her job and mine, I may occasionally close the store on Saturday, so please call before heading into town. I hope you won't mind the inconvenience. Remember that I'm usually opened late on Friday's because of classes. I'll try to remember to post here with any changes... On that note, we will be closed this Saturday, September 13th and also on Saturday, September 20th. (The 20th we'll be celebrating my daughter's 12th birthday since it's one of the few Saturdays that Celebration City is open to the public this month.)

I've got to brag....My daughter Rachel took Grand Champion in the Junior Division at the County Fair for the purse she made!! I am so proud of her! Sara and Rachel also earned blue and red ribbons for their photography and Nathan got a blue ribbon for his cute little sheep made from his handprints...as did all of the kids in his pre-school class.

Photography Classes

David Bell will be teaching photography classes at the store every Monday evening, starting September 8th. This will be a 15 week program ending on December 15th. Each classes will last 2 1/2 hours (at least) and the cost is $200.00. (due by September 2nd)

You will need to bring a notebook and pen to class and your 35mm or digital cameras. DO NOT BUY A CAMERA for this class. (What you learn may influence the choice you make.) There will be a book offered, but not required for an additional $44.00

There are a couple of spots left, so be sure to call the store (870)-423-1027 or drop by to reserve your place. David's class at NorthArk is in high demand, and we are very lucky to be getting this opportunity at such a great price.

4-H Scrapbook Club

The Carroll County 4-H Scrapbook Club (The Crazy Croppers) will be having their first meeting on Thursday, August 21st at 4p.m. at Mimi's Trunk. If you aren't a member of 4-H, we will have applications on hand. Myself, and a super talented friend of mine, Shawnda Escobar, will be the club leaders. We've got a lot of fun things to do and teach, so please join us and have a crazy croppin' time!

And....the Carroll County Extension Homemakers Scrapbook Club (The Happy Scrappers) has a new meeting time. .. the third Thursday of every month at 12p.m. The club is looking for new members, so please be sure and join us!!

Croppin' Tomorrow

There's still spaces available if anyone would like to come and crop with us tomorrow. The sodas and the classroom are cool if you need to escape the heat.

I'm a lucky girl....today, my mom and my oldest daughter helped me clean up the classroom. (If you've been in recently, you know that the place looked as if it had exploded.) So glad to have that done. Maybe now, I can get some creative juices flowing.

And now, for a personal problem...Why is it that I can think of some funny thing or another that I want to mention on this blog, but the minute I sit down to share it, it vanishes from my little brain??? (Of course, all of these thoughts come to me while driving, showering, ya know, places where you can't just stop what you're doing and write it down.)...Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I always sit down to write at the end of the night when I'm dead tired. ...sigh....

Oh, I almost forgot...I got a fresh supply of Slick Writers from American Crafts and all of the paper, and some embellishments from their Travel line. Very clean lines as is American Crafts style, and several of the papers can cross into other themes besides traveling. You'll find it right up front in the display next to the new Snowy Jo line from Imaginesce.

It's off to bed for me. I hope to see some of you tomorrow. I'll be open until 6 because of the crop.

Oops...did it again....I forgot to mention that Mr. David Bell (from Braswell's) will be teaching a 16 wk. (?) photography class at my store every Monday starting the first Monday in September. The cost is $200 or $225 (I think) and there are limited spaces available. You can call me to sign up, or stop in. This is the same course that he teaches at NorthArk and it is a bargain. I will try to get more info from him next week and find out if there are any supplies needed.

Christmas in July?

Have you met my friend, Snowy Jo? If not, you need to stop by the store and check out the new Christmas papers, embellishments, and albums from Imaginesce. They are sooooo cute. Double sided paper with glitter accents on one side. There's also really great acrylic stamps that only cost $1.00, and $2.99. We bought the whole line. Yeah!

I'm also expecting some great stuff from American Crafts by the end of the week.

Saturday is a crop day. Only $5.00 this time...(You're on your own for lunch, but I'll provide drinks and the chocolate!) 10a.m. - 6p.m

Next week starts our Family Album project. You won't want to miss out. This project will take 4 weeks, and each class is $15.oo. It's going to be just beautiful, and, if you need a really great gift for someone in the family for Christmas, this is it! Give me a call and sign up ASAP.

Can We Talk?

Forgive me if I offend anyone...but I need to say something here. First of all, NO WE ARE NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS. I've had so many people ask that (because of the sale). I'm really just trying to move some outdated inventory so that I can get some new things in.

Now...on to the touchy stuff.....

I've heard from so many of you, how much you love having a scrapbook store in town...(and I love being here for you). I am also VERY MUCH aware that you can get so many things cheaper at Wal-mart and at Hobby Lobby.....I shop there for pity sake....but I beg of you....please do not make this a topic of discussion at the store. 1) I have tried very hard to keep prices fair and to make my catalogs available to you as a convenience. I even special order product in for you to save you the trip to town, and I don't charge you shipping and handling. 2) It hurts my feelings because I know that I can never offer you the deals that the big stores do, nor can I offer the same selections, no matter how much I want to. 3) Sometimes it robs me of potential sales. (This part is really important, because this is what keeps me here, serving all of you wonderful people!)

Maybe I'm being petty...unprofessional...I don't know. But it's been happening so much lately that I just feel a little overwhelmed by it...and, well, I know that there aren't too many that read this, so I'm safe to vent a little.

I truly love and appreciate all of you. Being here, and having the pleasure of teaching you and scrapping along side of you has brought me so much joy, and has helped me get to know so many of you. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. But I need your help to stay here. Please post any suggestions (helpful...not cruel..lol!) that you think would make things better. I am looking forward to reading (and trying out) your suggestions.

P.S....Could you all include my friend Jennifer and her son Chet in your prayers? We are praying that Todd (Jennifer's other son) is a perfect match to be a donor for Chet. We need to get Chet better! (Jennifer, if you are reading this, you have the password, so if you want to put a link to Chet's page here, you can...but I wanted to leave that option up to you.)

New Class Schedule coming soon

I thought I had it all together...really I did. I actually had 3 weeks where everything was done ahead of time. But somewhere along the line, it kind of fell apart. What's a girl to do? Anyway, I'll be posting the July/August class schedule this weekend and schedules should be available Tuesday at the store. If you would like one mailed to you, or e-mailed to you, please let me know.

I'm really excited about a series of classes that we will start at the end of July or begining of August (still working on the schedule). We will be making an album about Family. I'm talking the cover and everything. (Think Nathan's album if you've been to the store and seen it.) I'm going to try to keep the cost to $60.00, but it will be divided into equal payments made at each class so that it's easy to pay for. We'll be sewing, distressing, inking, and embellishing our hearts out, and it will be very important that you bring certain supplies with you. (The list will be available as soon as possible.) You are going to love this!

Don't forget our clearance sale. It will last until the end of June, so make sure that you get in on the bargains!

Are you ready for this??? We are having a huge sale all month long. 50 - 70% off of many items. Please don't think that we are going out of business...we are not. We just want to clear out some old stuff and get some new things in the store. Be sure to stop in and get in on the bargains while they are still available.

I don't know about all of you, but there are just so many other things going on this summer, that there isn't going to be time for a vacation. But I was thinking, wouldn't it be fun to scrapbook all of our past vacations together, as a family? I think that it would be really fun to relive all of the memories, and even get some input that normally wouldn't be there if you were doing it all yourself. Don't forget...I've got a Wishblade and can custom cut titles for your vacation albums!

Happy Easter

Okay, it's a little late, but I do hope that you all had a wonderful Easter. We spent ours with both sets of Grandparents. It was wonderful to have them all together for the kids. I can't believe that I didn't take pictures of my girls and boy all dressed up! Luckily, my daughters have caught the scrapbooking bug and each have their own cameras. They took some pretty good pictures. Add those to the pictures my mom-in-law took, and I ought to have a few good ones. I did manage to get pictures of the Easter Egg hunt though. (And let me tell you, it was cold out there!)

Life at Mimi's Trunk is getting better all the time. I'm still behind on my class examples, but I'll get them done. The Easter pages are Friday at 10a.m. or 6p.m. and they feature patterened paper from Adorn It. Next week we are doing pages with a floral theme. I'm searching for some cool new techniques, so be sure to sign up.

Just a quick note, the Crop scheduled for the 19th has been rescheduled for the 26th. My oldest daughter has dance pictures on the 19th and she will have 4 or 5 costume changes. (That means new hairstyles in between pictures, so there will be a lot of running back and forth.)

Waiting.....I've orderd K&Co's Wild Saffron papers and embellishments, but I'm not sure when they'll be here. I'm also waiting on some new paper and stamps from Daisy Bucket and the rest of my Two Scoops order from Basic Grey. (I've also placed an order for a few pieces from Basic Grey's Archaic line....too cool for boys!)

Yep, it's here, and it's as yummy as the real thing, with no calories!! Unfortunately the brads and clear stamps haven't come in yet, but they are on their way.

To add to the excitement, I spoke with a new Rep today, and she brought me all sorts of catalogs with some really fun things in them. I can't wait to get some new stuff in!! And of course, because there is new stuff on the way, I'll be adding more things to the clearance racks, including Making Memories paints for half off....that's only $1.00 each! I'm also wanting to place a Technique Tuesday order, so if you've got any requests, make sure to let me know by Friday.

Pizza and a Six Pack???

Yep, we're going to have a crop on Saturday, February 23rd from 10a.m. until 6p.m. and for your $10.00 you are going to get pizza and a six pack! (No, I don't mean beer, nor do I mean some handsome stud named Sven who is there to give back and shoulder massages...but that would be nice!) The six pack is actually a kit with 6 different layouts in it. You can do them at the crop, or take them home for later...the choice is yours. Be sure to sign up soon so that you'll have a space waiting for you!

Well, I'm assuming that everyone was out Christmas shopping Saturday, and, well, the weather was just plain yucky Sunday, so, to soothe my ego, I'm going to assume that that is why hardly anyone came in to take advantage of the great bargains...and because of this, I'm going to extend my sale...all week! That's right, you have until Saturday, December 1st at 2p.m. to take advantage of the great sales. You're just going to have to come in to see it!

Yes, I have been a bad blogger. I've not done a very good job of keeping you all updated on classes and times. I'm so sorry...but I just don't know where the days go anymore. It seems like I'm always doing something, or too tired to do anything else!

Phew! I can't believe how many kids were on the square tonight for trick-or-treating! We had to have given out at least 700 pieces of candy. I can't wait to get the pictures back. It was so much fun to be there and to participate. I only wish we had had more people from the community there to Trunk-or-treat. (This was the first year to do that, so maybe people will catch on next year.)

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to move on to Christmas. (We will be having a brief brush with Thanksgiving Friday night when we make our Turkey Wall Hanging.) Our first Christmas class will be the Christmas Cards on Tues., Nov. 6th at 10a.m. and again at 6p.m., Friday, Nov. 9th at 10a.m. and again at 6p.m. and on Sat., Nov. 10th at 10a.m. will be the Advent Calender. Be sure to sign up now to reserve your kits, and stop by the store to check out the rest of the schedule. Our phone # is 870-423-1027.

Oh, Friday is the last day to order your giant monogram for the altered monogram classes on November 13th, 16th, and 17th. Make sure that you call, or drop by with your $10.00 deposit.

Scrappink Weekend is Almost Here!

This weekend is it! Don't forget to call and reserve your spot on Friday, Sept. 28th from 5p.m. until 11p.m. or on Saturday, Sept. 29th from 10 a.m. until 6p.m. I am really excited about the opportunity to do something wonderful, and I hope that you are too!

As you know, $10.00 of the fee for Scrappink will be going to the National Susan G. Komen for the Cure fund. I would also like to offer you the opportunity to donate to our Local chapter of the Susan G. Komen fund. This can be done one of two ways. First, you can drop by the store and put your donation in the jar, or, if you are attending the crop, you can forfeit your 25% discount and give that percentage of your sales to the local chapter. Either way, you will be doing something great and giving back to the community.

I've got so much I want to put into words, but it's late as usual, so I will have to try another time. (I'm really going to have to get internet at the store so that I can keep up with this!)

Yep, that's right. I've got some more Rusty Pickle papers coming in. If you like Cap'n Jack, you'll love Pirate Princess. (Who doesn't love pink and black together?) And then I've ordered special papers for Mom, Dad, Boys, Girls, Grandma, and Grandpa. REALLY CUTE! Speaking of Rusty Pickle, I've got 8 spaces left for the Old MacDonald/Farm Friends album. Make sure you sign up soon, or they'll be gone. If you can't make the class, these kits come with pictures and instructions, so you can do them on your own.

Lessons Learned

Have you ever wanted to just sit down and write everything that you were feeling? That's how I'm feeling tonight. I've got about a gazillion things running through this pea-brain of mine and I can't seem to get any of it straight!

I guess I'll start with what a good time Mom, Mandy, and I had in Tulsa at CKC this last weekend. We took a couple of classes with Rusty Pickle, and did a 10" x 20" altered canvas with Quick Quotes. It was so much fun, and I think we all came home inspired to create. (And really inspired to play with all of the new goodies that we bought!) This was just what I needed to get me inspired to design all of the neat classes we have coming up.

While we were at CKC, I entered a couple of contests, and lost. At first, I found myself choking back tears, but then I remembered that the reason that I scrapbook is to share the story of my family and other people that I love. Not to win contests. I'm not saying that a little recognition isn't a wonderful thing...but the judges aren't the people that I do this for. I just wish that they wouldn't ask for layouts with such emotional topics. Creating Keepsakes asked for a layout about a defining moment in your life. For me, that was the day my father died, so finding the right words to express that was difficult, and took a bit of crying to get the job done. Of course, the raw emotion never really comes through to those who don't know you, and so it can leave you feeling as though you ripped your heart out and set it on the table, only for people to walk by and barely glance at it, let alone take the time to appreciate how painful it all might have been. Anyway, the moral of the story is...make sure that you are creating your scrapbook pages for you, and for those you love. Don't worry about whether or not anyone else approves of it...just do what you love, for those you love, and enjoy the process.

Now, back to how much fun I had. My mom and I always have a good time together, but having Mandy along just added to the whole thing. The only thing that would have made it better would have been to have my other new friend Jennifer with us...but nooooooo....she had to up and move to Texas! (The nerve of some people!!) Although no one will ever replace my very best friend DeeAnn, it's nice to have made a couple of new friends here who totally understand my scrapbooking obsession. (It's also nice to have a couple of friends who might be a bit more obsessed about supplies than I am...it makes me look better in my husband's eyes! LOL) It's funny how this hobby brings people together, and allows us to make friends so easily, thanks to a common interest.

Well, I wanted to upload some pictures of my trip to Tulsa, but the old pc doesn't feel like cooperating right now, so I will have to try again later. And, luckily, Nathan is up and distracting me, so I can't think clearly enough to write any of the other mush that is roaming around this head of mine. Lucky. lucky you.

Jennifer, if you are in Texas reading this, I miss you and hope to see you soon.

It's Circle the Square This Weekend

Saturday, August 11th is Circle the Square in Berryville. We'll be croppin' in the classroom all day and going until 9 or 10p.m.. Please come and join us. Did I mention that the crop is FREE???

Circle the Square is so much fun, and if you're croppin' with us, what better way to stretch your legs than to go do a little dancin' in the streets? Even if you can't join us for the crop, stop by and shop a little. The whole store is 15% off that day/night. Don't forget to stop in and visit the other great shops on the square! Those Summer Nights.....

Yes, I am up at 2a.m. writing on my blog. I should be sleeping, but our air conditioning unit isn't working right so I have the windows open and the fans going. All in all, it is a fairly cool evening, so it isn't too bad...but those tree frogs! I think they're all laughing at me! Most nights they wouldn't even phase me...I actually like all of the noises of the countryside (Except when the cows get to doin' that weird mooin'...I'm not sure what that's all about, but they can sure sound creepy.) For some reason, they are getting to me tonight.

Just a quick update with what's going on at the store...we just received a shipment of really great rub-ons from American Crafts and to top it off, when you purchase $5.00 of American Craft products (rub-ons, slick writers, or gel pens) you get a cute sample packet and tool for free. This sample comes with a $.50 coupon for your next purchase of rub-ons from American Crafts.

Next week we are expecting shipments from Daisy D's and Bo Bunny Press. Our Daisy D's order will be bringing in some yummy, rich fall papers, and the Bo Bunny order will contain some new Christmas papers for use in this year's Christmas Mini album which has become a fast tradition. This is our 3rd year making them and Sherry's designs get more beautiful every time!

We are working on our new class schedule so be ready for a few changes. We will no longer be offering the same classes on Tuesday that we do on Friday because Tuesdays we will be offering an entirely different class. Don't worry though, if you want it all, but can't make it to all of the classes, we can provide you with a kit, color pictures, and instructions for you to complete the project at home. You can also come in any time that we aren't having class and we will help you put it together. We don't mind at all.

I just found out that Saturday, August 11th, there will be another "Circle the Square". These are so much fun. You really ought to come out and support this wonderful community activity. It will truly make you feel nostalgic and like your a part of the community. In honor of "Circle the Square" we are going to have a Crop from 1p.m. until 10p.m. (stay as long as you can, or stick it out until the end!) If you can't join us for the Crop, stop in, visit, and take advantage of the 15% storewide sale.

Tuesday, August 14th, at 1p.m. The Extention Homemaker's Happy Scrapper's club will have a guest speaker, David Bell. He will be teaching us how to take better pictures, so bring your cameras and join us. You don't have to be a member of the club, but we do welcome any new members. We meet every 3rd Tuesday at 1p.m. (August will be the 2nd Tuesday).

If you missed our 80's crop, you missed a good time. We've got to give it up to Joan for actually scrapping some 80's photos. While cropping, I got a little lost in thought about how wonderful it is to have a hobby...especially this one. Without it, I would have never met the wonderful women that I have met or made such wonderful friends so quickly. I feel so blessed whenever any of you come into the store. Not because you are bringing me business, but because you have brought me friendship. There is just something about Scrapbooking that brings an instant bond of sisterhood. (Or brotherhood...really guys, you can do this too!) I think that is one of the things that I love most about this hobby.

I have a challenge for you all this weekend. Find a little time, and make a layout about why you love to scrapbook. Make something that tells people why you go to all of the effort to put so much creativity and love into preserving your memories. I promise that this will be a good cure for burnout, and a good place to start if you haven't scrapped in awhile. Just to make the challenge a little more tempting, I will give you 15% off of your entire sale if you bring this page in to share with me! (You know you can't resist it!)

Circle the Square

This weekend will be the first "Circle the Square" of the summer and I am really excited about it! Saturday, July 14th, the folks at Ozarts have completed the first phase of the restoration at the Grand View Hotel and will be having a ribbon cutting at 3p.m. and then offering tours of the first floor renovation. The rest of the evening will include live bands and dancing in front of the old court house and the downtown Merchants will be open until 10p.m. and offering great sales. Of course I will be open! I don't know if I'm nuts, but there is something really nostalgic about this event. Last year when we attended, I felt like I was living in some old movie, where the people of some small town all know each other and are so proud of the town that they live in. I remember sitting there, breathing in the warm summer air and thinking..."This is it! This is why we moved to a small town." I get downright giddy when I think about it sometimes, and this weekend is no exception. I am really excited about participating as a merchant this year, so of course the Trunk will be open until 10p.m. and we will be offering a 15% storewide discount, and don't forget that everything with a yellow or pink sticker is 50% off.

I love living in Berryville, and I really want to get to know more of you, so if you've got a minute to spare, stop by the store and let me share my special project with you. *Be prepared to have your picture taken!!

Just wanted to check in with everybody. I hope that you are all having a great summer. I know that I am. Things are getting busier around the store all of the time. I have truly enjoyed meeting all of the new customers that have stopped into the store. What wonderful ladies you are!

I want to post some pictures soon, (hopefully tomorrow) of what has been going on around the store, and of course Our Customer of the Month.

Last blog, I mentioned a contest. I hope that you will all get excited about this. I mean really get those creative juices going. Here's the rules:

*Make an album or home decorating project out of a found object.

*The "Found Object" must come from one of the downtown merchants in Berryville.

*You must show your receipt from the merchant item was purchased from.

*The project must be altered using scrapbook supplies from our store. (You can use other products too, but papers from our store must be a part of the project.)

*The last day to enter is August 15th.

*The winners will be judged by a vote from the Downtown Merchants Association members.

*The 1st place winner will be awarded a $50.00 gift certificate from Mimi's Trunk. 2nd place will get a $25.00 gift certificate, and 3rd will get a $10.00 gift certificate.

I think that this will be a lot of fun. I can't wait to see what you creative ladies come up with!

This is really a cute little paper bag book that is all about you! Face it, we just don't scrap about ourselves often enough. Yep...Saturday, the 23rd from 10 -6 we will be croppin' at Mimi's Trunk. I hope that you can join us. It's so much fun to have everyone hangining out and doing their thing. I have truly grown to love all of my customers. By the way....I think we're going to do some Geraldi's for lunch. YUM!!

Okay....I know that I have been a bit behind on the Customer of the Month and I need to post her pic and her lovely mini album that she made for her daughter, but I will tell you who she is until tomorrow when I can get those things done.....drumroll......

Shawnda Escobar!!

Shawnda has become quite the scrapbooker. You should see the album she's taking back to her husband's family in El Salvador. It is gorgeous. I will get the pics up asap so that you can enjoy her sweet album for her daughter.

Our sale is still going, and I am noticing some empty slots on my paper wall so you had better get in and stock up while you still can. 50% off of a whole lot of paper and embellishments. We are making way for the new stuff we are ordering in. I can't wait to show you what's coming in this week. I LOVE IT!!

Speaking of new, we received another shipment from BoBunny. Some really cute boy prints and some bright girly girl stuff. Oh, and gorgeous black and cream polka dots and flowers, along with Wedding Rub-Ons to go with them.

If you haven't been in lately, make sure to take a peek at Sherry's Junque from the Trunk. She has been working hard papercrafting embellishments that will give your pages that finishing touch. (Her new camping stuff is toooooooo cute!)

On a personal note, I have to brag a little. My oldest daughter Rachel won Miss Photogenic and 2nd runner up in her age group at the Ice Cream Social pageant. Not that we needed the awards to know how beautiful she is...but it was sure a lot of fun for her. I must say that I was most proud of how she followed through with her duties and did what was asked of her, including being there early on Saturday morning for the 5k to hand out ice cream tickets, and trophies to the racers.

We are going to be having a huge sale at the store. Tons of papers will be 50% off! Selected Chatterbox, Basic Grey...all K& Co products and all ALL My Memories papers, tags, and stickers. The Red Hat papers, 7 Gypsies, and Arctic Frog papers are all 50% off too! Now is a great time to stock up for your summer scrapping. We want to clear out a bunch of these beautiful papers to make way for some great new selections. And you read it here first. I haven't made the signs for the windows, or the inside of the store yet... and I haven't handed out any flyers, so make sure that you stop in while there is still a large selection.

What's new? We have received the new Bling line from Bazzill. There are a limited number of each color, so come by and get them while they are still here. If you haven't been in lately, we also got in some gorgeous Prima Flowers, papers from BoBunny and Carolee's Creations, new ribbons, and the Necessities Apron from BoBunny. Meet Dee Hudson

She is our Customer of the Month and this is one of her favorite layouts so far. I can't believe I forgot to do a Q & A with her! I'll have to get some info this weekend and update. I can tell you this much though...Dee is a sweetheart and I have enjoyed having her in my classes. I know that some of her friends read this blog...so why don't you post and tell us all something wonderful about Dee! By the way, you can see her layout up close and personal at the store until the end of May.

I am so excited and nervous. The Grand Opening of our new location on the square is this Saturday and I am so nervous! This has all happened sooooo fast. (I'm really nervous about the live remote...hoping that I don't sound too goofy!)

Anyway...just a reminder....the Grand Opening is Saturday, May 5th from 10a.m. until 5p.m. and we will be having a free crop, so reserve your spot as seating is limited. If you don't want to crop, stop by and check out the sales and register for the prizes that we will be giving away. I sure do hope to see all of you! I feel like I need to pinch myself...this is like a dream come true. There's just something really, well, neat, about having a store on the town square. Whew! Busy, busy, busy. We are almost ready for our Grand Re-Opening. Until then, the store is open for business if you'll excuse the dust.

I have to apologize for not being very consistent about being at the store the last couple of weeks. It seems that for everything that I remember, there are 12 things that I forget and have to make a run for! Today it was my new glasses..(bifocals...YUCK!) Am I really that old? Oh well, at least I won't have to make such funny faces while trying to use the paper trimmer!

What a Day!

Boy am I tired. This will be a short post because I am exhausted from painting the NEW STORE all day! Yes, that's right. We made the move. We will now be located at 102 Church Ave. on the square in Berryville. I am so very excited about this, but terribly nervous too. I'm sure that this is the right move, but still, it's very scary to have all of the added responsibilities.

The phone has not been switched over to the store yet, but if you need something, call the house and my cell number will be on the answering machine. I will gladly run over and open up for you. With any luck, we will be all moved in by Tuesday of next week. The only change in schedule will be the classes for next Tuesday which will have to be cancelled. I will, however, have an extra class Friday morning for those of you who usually take the Tues. morning class.

I've got to get some sleep now. If you're on the square and see us working, stop in and say hello!

Could it be true?

Something wonderful is about to happen, but I hate to say it, because every time I mention it, something goes wrong...so I'm not saying it...but those of you that have been around the store know what I'm talking about! Just keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer.

It's going to be a couple of slow weeks at the store between spring break and Easter, but I am looking forward to seeing you all at the Easter Pages class, and don't forget our card class and "Let's Paint". There are only a few more days left of our huge sale, so make sure to stop by and stock up.

Today, I have a little word of wisdom to share with you.....Don't leave home without your camera...ever! At least keep a disposable, or a small digital in your purse. This is a lesson that I have to keep learning and was reminded of again today as I drove down the 412 through Huntsville. Spring is definately on it's way. The Red Bud trees are in full bloom, and the sunny yellow bushes that I have no idea what they are called, are all full and bright. There is also the beautiful sight of wild violets, and other lavender flowers covering the fields. And of course, my favorite....lots of little calfs running in the fields, playing with each other or tagging along side their mothers. It is one of my favorite things to see. Needless to say, I didn't have my camera with me, or I would be sharing all of these beautiful images with you. I definately see a drive through the country side Saturday with my camera.

I need to know...what kind of classes do you all want? What do you want to learn? I've got to get a new schedule going and soon, so please give me some ideas so that I know I'm giving you all the kinds of classes that you want.

Well, I'm off to bed, to dream of bigger and better things to come. Maybe tomorrow I can say something out loud without fear of having the rug ripped out from under me. Have a happy day!

It's raining.....

and thundering, and lightning. My favorite kind of weather. I hope it keeps up tomorrow, as it will be just the inspiration that I need to get a few things accomplished. I don't know what it is about the rain that makes me want to do something creative. Sometimes it makes me want to clean and organize. It must be the idea of washing away the old, and getting a fresh, clean start. I don't know. My mom loves the rain too, and I have so many fond memories of listening to the rain with her. I remember one time, driving down the road, a thunderstorm hit, and she pulled into the Montgomery Wards parking lot (that dates it, doesn't it?)...anyhow, she pulled over, turned off the engine of the car, and we sat and listened to the rain as it fell on the roof of the car. Maybe we adored it so because Las Vegas rarely gets rain...maybe it was like I said, a fresh, clean new beginning. At any rate, the rain got me thinking tonight of just that...how grateful I am that we all have the ability of getting a fresh, clean new start. Maybe we can't always get out the stain of past mistakes, but we sure can choose to deal with them appropriately, pick ourselves up, and start in a new direction. New directions are good.

I am in the middle of finding a new direction. I love the store...I just need to find a new direction. It is quite obvious to me that the road I'm on isn't working....(quite literally! ) I'm trying to find a new home for the store. It's scary, and frustrating. I'm totally scared of getting into a lease and falling flat on my face. I'm frustrated that people won't return phone calls regarding building spaces. I want to make this work...I really, in my heart....think that it will. But then there's that little annoying voice that keeps whispering "failure". SHUT UP ALREADY! So, I'm swallowing what little pride I have and asking for a little help...some direction from some wonderful volunteers at SCORE. (www.score.org). With any luck, they'll be able to get me pointed in the right direction and headed down the path to having the wonderful store/gathering place that I have dreamed of.

And now that I'm done waxing poetic...I want to let you all know that I've extended the sale from last weekend. I will be carrying it over until the end of March, so please stop by and check out the great bargains.

Also, the store will be closed Friday, March 23rd. My daughter Rachel, earned a free day off because she did well on her Benchmark tests last year, and my husband has a job interview (can I hear a "FINALLY!"?) Anyway, we will be headed to the "big city" to do some shopping and lunch, and hopefully getting Billy a new job. Yes, I am still having class Friday night, so if you need anything, the store will be open from 6p.m. until 8:30p.m.

I'm putting together the classes for the next quarter. Does anyone have any special requests? Let me know soon!

Such sweet, sweet ladies. I feel like such a dork though. Friday night, I taught a class at the store...(Forgive the mess...we are still in the process of finishing, but the show must go on!) Anyway, these sweet ladies came to class and after class they went shopping (In the pretty part of the store)...I was standing behind the register, ringing up sales, and looked around, and started to cry! My store was busy and bustling...just like I have imagined it being. It certainly took me by surprise that I would get so emotional!

If you ladies are reading this....and that includes Mandy, Polly, Davina, Gayla, Karen, Judy, Cheryl, Linda, and Loretta, I want to thank you so so much for all of the support you have offered me. You are all so very wonderful, and more dear to my heart than you will ever know.

Tori....Goddess of Scrapbooking!

Remember last week when I told you about helping Tori make a scrapbook for her English class? Well, here is her finished product. (I should have taken pictures of the inside too...she did such a great job.) As soon as she gets it back, I'm hoping she will let me diplay it at the store. Be sure to stop by and take a look. Don't you just love the Basic Grey papers she used? She used our Wishblade to cut her titles, and to make the pillar on the left. And how about the picture of Ares on the cover? Who would have thought that a picture of a Grecian Urn printed off of the internet could look so cool? She covered it 3 or 4 timeswith UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) and then, once it had cooled down, she cracked it. (She repeated this look with all of the pictures in her album to give it continuity.)

Great job Tori!!

P.S....I just love this girl. She is one of the sweetest teenagers I've ever met!

Let it Snow?

So, another weekend with snow in the forcast. There's about 2 inches (maybe 3) outside and more headed our way. I have a feeling there won't be many of you signing up for classes this weekend! That's okay. Maybe we can get enough of you together to have a class.

I had so much fun this week. Tori, one of the young women from my church had an English assignment that she needed some help with. She had to make a scrapbook about the Ares, the Greek god of war. She did such a great job gathering all of her information, then we went into the store and she picked out some great Basic Grey papers (The Motifica line, which was just perfect for this project.) I taught her how to use the Wishblade to cut titles, and then suggested, and demonstrated a few techniques and she went to town. She did an awesome job. I will be posting a picture tomorrow, and then, when she gets the book back, she's going to let me display it in the store for awhile. You'll have to stop by and check it out to see what an amazing job she did! Now, why didn't they have cool projects like that when I was in school??

We've got some new arrivals at the store. Heidi swap flowers (The really big ones), and Cat's Eye chalk inks. (If you've never used these, you ought to give them a try. They work like an inkpad, but look like chalk, and at $2.00 a piece, they are a great little item to add to your supplies.) As I mentioned before, the Basic Grey Blush line is in, along with the mini monogram chipboard and their chipboard with all the fun accents like photo corners, hinges, etc. I can't wait to play with them! I've also been working on some fun Valentine embellishments that are premade. All you have to do is add them to your pages.

New Year...New Classes!

Happy New Year!! I am so excited to get going with classes for this New Year. I don't know what it is about welcoming in the New Year that makes me so happy, but I'm pretty sure that it's the excitement of an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start over....and that is part of my New Year's resolution...to not worry about what I didn't accomplish last year, and to get excited about what I hope to accomplish THIS year. One thing is for sure...I will be doing a lot of my own scrapbooking this year. I'm getting behind, and I need to catch up and get stories told while they are still fresh in my mind. I also plan on making several theme albums for family members. I want to tell those I love, just how much they mean to me.

I know this is a little late, but I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. Nathan has been fighting pneumonia this last couple of weeks, and I am afraid that I'm trying to get it, so needless to say, I am a little behind on everything. Hopefully, I will have a class schedule and newsletter ready for you by New Year's Day.

Speaking of New Years, I hope that one of your New Year's Resolutions is to get more scrapbooking done. I know that mine is. To help you accomplish your goal, the store will have a free crop space available every Tuesday - Friday during store hours. Just call ahead to reserve your spot. If you've ever cropped at the store before, you know that it's a great way to get things accomplished without all of the interruptions that happen at home.

Well, I'm off to try to plan the next four months. Please sign up early for classes. It makes it so much easier for us to be prepared with the right amount of product and supplies.

Wish You Were Here

Saturday's Crop was a lot of fun. What a great group of ladies. I only wish more of you could have joined us. Great hobby, great company, good food,....what more does a gal need to enjoy her weekend? I just loved having you all here and am looking forward to having more crops next year. I just can't believe that I forgot to take pictures of all of the action again! What kind of scrapbooker am I? (Besides a busy one, teaching a Christmas card class and having a crop at the same time!)

I just wanted to give you a heads up on the store hours around the 21st - 23rd. My in-laws will be here, so you might want to call before you head out to the store, and make sure I'm there. Please leave a message if you don't get me. I promise that I will call you back. I'll even open the store especially for you if you need something.

Just Thinking...

It's late. I should be in bed. But I found myself in front of the computer, reading my favorite blogs, checking out Scrapvillage.com, and thinking. Thinking about how wonderful this hobby is, and how close I feel to so many women out there, simply because we share one thing in common. A love of scrapbooking. A love of sharing our stories. (Okay, and a serious love of scrapbooking supplies!)

Anyone who has been to the store knows it's not the biggest, not by a long shot. ( Lately, I have found myself apologizing for that fact. I guess I do it because I want to be able to offer you so much more.) But I truly hope that when you are here, that you feel totally at home. (I mean, that open the fridge and grab a drink kind of "at home" feeling.) I get a kick out of the way you all knock when you come to the door! I know it's at my home, but the store is seperate...walk in...please!! I want you to. I want my tiny little store to be the gathering place for people who love to share their stories, their memories, their ideas, and opinions. I want crops at my place to be the modern quilting bee. I may not have an actual classroom, and maybe you will be taught at my kitchen table, or in the living room...but consider it an act of love. I love to have you here, and I am more than happy to open up my store, and my home to you.

Scrapbooking is so many things...a hobby, an artistic expression, an "acid free" bond that we all have with one another. I know that Berryville is small, but I'm sure there are a million stories to be told. They deserve to be told... I am completely convinced that part of what's wrong with society today is that we don't tell our stories. Sure, we tell some of the funny ones, but do we share it all? Do we share the good and the bad? The bitter and the sweet? And more importantly, do we document them for a time when we won't be here to tell them? We at least owe that much to our children, grandchildren, or anyone whom we consider an important part of our lives. They need to know that we've "Been there, done that." But more importantly, that we survived. That somehow, we made it through, even when things weren't picture perfect.

Come on over to my place. Pop open a can of soda...let me put the coffee on for you. Let's create something rich and wonderful. Let's work together to tell your story, and to build friendships within our little community. You've got time for that, don't you? Tell the truth...Can you afford to not make the time?

For anyone who might have come by the store today....I am so sorry for being closed. I have come down with Strep throat and needed to go to the doc to get a shot. I'm actually feeling much better tonight. Hopefully I will be up to snuff tomorrow! I hated having to cancel classes and close the store, but Sherry is in Las Vegas recovering from her gall bladder surgery, so I was pretty much alone. Thankfully my dad helped out with my little boy so that I could get a little sleep. Needless to say, it isn't easy to be sick, and not have anyone else to help you out. I am so grateful for my family.

Did I ever mention that we are set up to accept Visa and Mastercard? We also offer gift certificates and a wish list that you can fill out. I will keep the list on hand so that if your sweetie, or someone else looking to buy you a gift comes into the store, I can help them get what you really want. (I can also send a little note in the mail with the "gentle" suggestion in it!)

Christmas Cards

Finally, here are the Samples from the Christmas Card Class for this week. There are still spaces open for Friday's class and the class on December 9th. Please don't laugh at my scanning and posting skills! ( I can't ever seem to get this part right.)

I know you aren't all feeling the Christmas spirit right now, but if you plan on making your own cards, it's not too early to start. Even if you are planning on putting a picture of your family on the front, you could still get the base of the card done, and plan/make any embellishments that you would like to add.

Don't forget that we have a Wishblade here at the store, so I can custom cut words for you. All you have to do is supply the paper!. (If you would like adhesive on the back, there will be a $1.00 charge per page.)

If you have a church group or other organization that is interested in doing these cards, or other projects, I am more than willing to come to you. I just need a couple of weeks notice and an accurate count of who will be there. (All kits come ready to assemble.)

I know, I promised the Christmas Card samples would be up long before now. Here it is, the day before the class, and no samples. (No wonder I only have 3 people signed up!) To be quite honest with you, the work I had left to do to get the store to a point that I'm not always apologizing for the mess took a lot longer than Mom and I had planned. But, at last, it's done. (Well, there are 2 more things to do, but those are my hubby's department.)

I am still teaching the Christmas Card class this week and it's not too late to call. I've got 3 different days scheduled, so if any of the following suit you, give a call, or post here and I'll count you in.

We had a great time at Croptoberfest Saturday. Great goody bags, door prizes, and food, not to mention great company. I just love you ladies! I am looking into the idea of a Crop in December, so keep checking here, and watch the mail for announcements.

We recently got in some wonderful Christmas papers....Wild Asparagus, kaleidoscope, Pebbles Inc. And Flair. I am having so much fun designing cards with them. I can't wait to see what Sherry comes up with for the mini album.

We've also got in some really cute Halloween papers from Pebbles Inc. And Fall papers from Flair. Oh, and the Making Memories Halloween Paints and stamps are in. Please drop in and see what's new in Mimi's Trunk.

Yep....it's my "Field of Dreams" philosophy to owning a scrapbook store! It's built...now come on in...don't be shy! I want to meet all of you and get to know you. I want you to pop in...see what's new...grab a cold water or soda from the fridge and chat for a bit. Share your latest project with me. Tell me a funny story about your kid. That is what I want for the store. I want you to feel at home...and thankfully, some of you have! I must apologize for the mess lately, but my mom and I have been working pretty hard trying to get a few more shelves done to display all of our product...seems I had more than I thought! We've got some new stuff in if you haven't been in for awhile....

Basic Grey Romani Collection and LilyKate...also their Oh Baby! collection. Beautiful Christmas and fall papers from My Mind's Eye, Flair, and Pebbles Inc.. You really ought to stop by and take a peek!

I'm really looking forward to CROPTOBER FEST! October 7th from 10a.m. until 6p.m. It's going to be such a good time. There will be prizes, goody bags, snacks and lunch, and don't forget the Chatterbox "Scrapaholic" mug! Don't forget to reserve your spot ahead of time. Space is limited.

I know I've said it before...but I will be posting pics of the Christmas Cards very soon. Like I said, Mom has had me sidetracked building and painting shelves.

At the Fair

Well, I spent this evening at the fair. The booth looks really nice, but the foot traffic tonight was pretty slow. Of course, it was the beauty pageant, so most of the folks were in the arena cheering on their favorite gal. Hopefully, the weekend will bring a larger crowd.

I want to give a shout out to my friend Mandy for winning the Grand Champion ribbon in the scrapbook exhibit! Great job Mandy!!

Do you know what the biggest response to the booth was tonight??? "I haven't got time." I know that everyone is really busy...but I truly believe we should MAKE the time to document our lives. No one said it had to be a work of art...(although, nice paper and good color selection does help tell your story and convey the general feeling of the pictures.) I wish people would just take a moment to realize that they are not always going to be around to tell their side of the story, or to share how they feel with the people they love. This hobby is worth making the time for. Do me a favor....post the reason/and how ...you make time to scrapbook. I would love to read your thoughts!

Okay....I finally got a moment to post the samples for September's classes. I hope I can get these pictures to go in order!

"Back to School" pages. For $10.00 you will create these three pages.

Ugghhh...of course it didn't work. Well, the two pages above, and this one here (A+ Kid) are included in the class.

Tuesday, September 19th from 12 noon until 2p.m. and again 6p.m until 8p.m. will be our "Personalized Journal" class. The cost of this class is $6.00 and the great part is that you get to choose the paper you want to decorate your journal with! These journals are really fun, whether you are actually keeping a journal, or using it for your to-do lists. They also make great gifts!

Well, that's it for now. I've got to get ready for the Extension Homemakers Scrapbook Club to come over. We'll be finishing up our projects to sell at the County Fair.

Finally!!!

Okay....I know you all think I have been teasing, and that this whole store thing wasn't going to happen...but it is! Yep. Starting Tuesday, September 12th, the store will be open from 10a.m. until 6p.m. Saturday's are by appointment. Of course, if you give me a call on Monday or Saturday, and I'm here, I'll be happy to open up for you.

I really wish the whole "portable" store had worked, but this is a good set-up here at the store, and I think you are really going to like it. Isn't it nice to see all the paper laid out on the shelves like this? These were designed by my hubby and built by my hubby, my dad, and my mom. Mom, Rachel, and I painted them, and then I got the privelage of putting out all of the lovely papers. Some of our printed papers are still in the upright files, and all of our cardstock is, but we have plans for those too.

Did anyone read the weekend edition of the Carroll County News? My friend Mandy and I are on the front page. How cool is that?! (Well, except for my pic...). Anyway, they did a great article about the Extension Homemakers Scrapbook Club of which Mandy and I are Co-chairpersons. We are earning money for a great service project by selling hand-crafted cards and recipe boxes at the Carroll County Fair to be held Sept. 4th - the 9th. We'll be selling them from the Mimi's Trunk booth.

Speaking of having a booth at the fair...Sherry and I will be selling some really cute journals and possibly some other things at the booth along with showing what the classes will be for the next 4 months. We've got some neat ones planned, including Christmas in October....most of the month of October, we will be doing Christmas Cards and great Christmas gifts. Oh, and the coolest Christmas/holiday planner. I'm going to list the classes tomorrow, and I will be posting the pictures of the projects as soon as I get them done...I promise! Okay, there's supposed to be a picture of my new favorite tool on here, but I don't know where it went. Anyway, we've got in the Cropodile! It is just the neatest way to punch holes and set eyelets and snaps in just about anything...I mean chipboard, metal, cd's...you name it. One of the best qualities about this tool is that all of the parts are attached. No more searching for attachments! The only bad part is that you can't punch everywhere with it. It has about the same reach as a traditional hole punch. This tool is really easy though...even if you have arthritis. It is that easy to punch.

Time for a Detour

In an effort to make it easier for our customers to find us, I've created a new blog. Yes, I know it has the same name. (I can't seem to think of anything clever for my personal blog.) I just thought it would be easier to find me if Mimi's Trunk was part of the address.

Things are getting all spruced up at Mimi's Trunk. Sherry has been hard at work hanging mouldings and we are getting ready to move onto some rolling paper/supply racks. Our paper shelves are up and stocked, and we've got more paper on order, along with eyelets, brads, and the ever popular Cropodile from We R Memory Keepers....I am sooo excited to get this in. According to everyone it punches through just about anything "just like butta"! Oh, and I forgot to mention...we've go Deluxe Designs Plain Jane chipboard shapes. Gotta love 'em. They are so much fun to work with.

I'd like to post some pics of how the store is progressing...hopefully tomorrow. I'm wiped out today, and have a ton of work to do tomorrow. Until then.........
